Yesterday we celebrated a staff members birthday! We thank you Maria Magdalena Porras for being a great part of our staff here at Our Lady of Refuge. May God our father bless you with many more !!

We thank everyone who donated to our toy drive event. All those who adopted families, and all who volunteered your time; a huge thank you.This event would not be possible with out the help of donors and all those who volunteered their time.This year we registered over 100 families with around 300+ children. We also adopted 21 families.We were able to have the 3 kings, 2 balloon twisters, a face painter, and a lot of snacks and refreshments for the families to enjoy. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

On Saturday October 16 an Our Lady of Refuge parishioner found broken into boxes, ripped up Christmas wrapping paper and bows covering the floor. She noticed that there were Christmas toys missing and that many had been unwrapped. The staff checked the security cameras on Monday and discovered the following: On October 16 around 11:30pm a women and man discovered the children’s Christmas toys that Our Lady of Refuge staff and volunteers had already wrapped and per-sorted for this year’s Children’s Christmas Toy drive distribution. The women and man went into the room which appeared to have been left closed, but unlocked. After entering left the trail of the many gifts they unwrapped to collect the most valuable ones. They returned to the building a couple hours later, around 3am, and started to take a couple of boxes full of the toys intended for the needy children in our community. They appeared to have been on the phone and a couple minutes later two cars come to pick them up with their findings. They took an estimated value of $600 in children’s new toys that were to be given to about 500 children in need this Christmas season. We contacted the police to press charges and would appreciate your help if you recognize Mr. & Mrs Grinch. Rest assured that this unfortunate event will not cancel the annual event to provide needy children gifts this Christmas season as we will still strive to provide gifts to children in our community!
